The villa is situated on the edge of the small hamlet of Los Marines. Surrounded by olive groves and accessed by a country road. The location offers beautiful scenery, peace and tranquillity. The area has several restaurants which are just a short drive away. They are well worth a visit as they have great views of the lake (and the food's not bad either).
In the valley below, Lake Vinuela enhances the spectacular view from the villa. The lake is actually a man-made reservoir which provides water for the coastal towns to the south. Motorised boats are not permitted on the lake but dinghys and canoes may be used (hire available). Overlooking the lake is Mount Maroma, rising to 2065m it is the highest mountain in the Axarquia region.
The nearest town of any size is Periana located about 4km to the east of the villa. Here you will find most amentities such as cafes, a pharmacy, cash points and a couple of small supermarkets (think Sainsbury's local rather than Asda). For those bigger supply runs large supermarkets such as Eroski and Mercadona are available in Velez-Malaga (about 25 minutes away by car).
